A History of the Summer Poker Showdown

Updated January 17, 2009

The Summer Poker Showdown has been on the Circuit schedule since 2006 where it has had some history along with it.

In 2006, the event held 8 players, one of the smallest JSOP Circuit events ever (but not the smallest). This event was taken down by John Ciarkowski as this has been his only Circuit win to date (as of August 2008). The runner up, Chris Sepcsik, was coolered by quads over a full house but whatcha gonna do?

In 2007, the event had a dramatic increase in players as 14 players turned out to take down the title. John Ciarkowski, the 2006 winner, did not even make the final table. This event was taken down by Tom Taylor as this was his 3rd of 3 Circuit events won in a row. He's a genius.

In 2008, the Summer Poker Showdown saw a decrease in players, down to 13and saw a boring heads up battle.

With this event making its appearance in the 2009 Circuit schedule, what new and exciting thing will we see? Maybe Chris Sepcsik winning this event? Maybe this event taking place outdoors where we can be arrested by the police for gambling? I hope none of these ever occur, nor will it.
