A History of the Limit Hold 'em Showdown
Updated January 17, 2009
The Limit Hold 'em Showdown is the only other event, aside from the World H.O.R.S.E. Championship, to not be a NLHE tournament. As the title of the event suggests, this is a Limit Hold 'em event.
In 2006, Tom Taylor took down the title in boring fashion, chipping away at all competitors to win the event. He defeated a total of 4 other players to win the title.
In 2007, Tom Taylor did not have a good tournament trying to defend his title as he was the first player eliminated from the event. The eventual winner, Dan Winegrad, lasted through 6 other opponents playing a very unorthodox style as he captured another JSOP title.
The 2008 edition saw a new page written in the history books as Chris Loggia beat 8 other entrants to win his 4th Circuit in a year, which is a new record.
This event is taking place right before the Tournament of Champions. Since anyone who went deep in this event last year took no momentum into the TOC, will that change in the coming year? I'm guessing not likely. I do know one thing is for certain. Chris Sepcsik can't play No Limit Hold 'em for crap and he certainly plays Limit Hold 'em like a trained monkey ready to pee in his lap.
